The intro talks about the narrow bounds of deign.

complex activity
defined as the conception and planning of all of the products made by human beings is a form of deliration whose result is measured in production and in the careers of individual products in culture.

It talks about the intercrossing of disciplines and how designers are expected to participate in it, which is bad because it re-defines it in individual terms and characterizing the act of designing and the quality.
The way they talk about the designer in a diverse way is interesting to me. It's not so percific anymore.

DEPTH OF DESIGN>
I related with this artical, it bought the environment and our surroundings into the context of design. Firstly talking about how we are concerned with safety, effiency but we don't acknowledge our responsibility to our environmanet and materials.
Designers suffer from an uncertain sense of ientity, they reduce the need for interaction and intelligibility of what they are designing and how technological development has made them invisible but making a shift form aesthetic design to engineering design and a new connection between reality and humanity.
It gives you an understanding about the distance between human and product and "engagement" becasue of this humanity and reality. As the engagement goes so does the aesthetic. It becomes superficial. loses it's sensitivity and care?
The good of design is the moral and cultural excellence of the humanly shaped and builtaround an environment. Designers have been entrusted as professionals by society with a valued good.

It also talks about time. "We have nither time nor tolerance, we are elective with engagment"
It tought me about me Artisanship, the moddeling of an object considering a well rounded shape, a tangile texture, a certain weight. 'Everything is fashionable even the sound the pot makes, after considering its conductitvty, material, texture, weight.
Designers help urban traditions adapt to the advances of technology
If ignorantly or thoughtlessly designed they can impode and destroy ife.

ETHICS INTO DESIGN>
I didn't really like the whole of this part of the book. Some parts made sense to me but others didn't'.I understand now that design does have ethics attached to it for example the meaning of design understood as an English word, a french word, Latin all mean different things and attach different things to it.
The activity of design constructs models of what it thinks might extend making, they project complex possibilities in realistic form thus determining or enabling the control of power.

The ideal of efficiency, striving with some minimal possible input of material and energy for a maximum output, and a depth of meaning.

"Remember the materials" "Return to real things"this distances the designer from self examination or social responsibility.
